Get to know the brand Halsduk by Esmee
In December 2018 I had the privilege of being invited to attend the opening of the “House of Artisans Amsterdam”, a store in Amsterdam. The House of Artisans Amsterdam is a concept store which is the result of a combination of 7 Dutch brands with the focus in craftsmanship, sustainability, quality and exclusivity. Behind the 7 brands are seven visionary, ambitious, innovative and united businesswomen, each one with her own products and, together they offer custom-made women’s clothes, handbags, sports clothes and accessories. And one of those brands is Halsduk by Esmee
Halsduk by Esmee is a Dutch brand by EMH Styling created by Esmee Markhorst. Halsduk means scarf in Swedish. The name is a junction of her love for scarves and the Scandinavia. The brand is new in the market and, was created at a time when Esmee was recovering from a heavy surgery. Used to very dynamic routine, very quickly she got tired of doing nothing and since she was not allowed to do much, she began knitting scarves to pass time. The decision to start knitting scarves did not come by accident, she always had a passion for scarves.
Being the owner of a unique style, she has always considered scarves as pieces that could give a different impulse to an outfit with which one can easily create a statement, if one desired to. Obviously this passion was reflected in each scarf. After her recovery, people began to approach her, showing interest in acquiring the scarves. She quickly realized that they had the potential to be a success and she decided to join the useful to the pleasant, making her passion, her work.
She then found a boutique that offered to sell the scarves, meanwhile, for a year and a half, she focused on creating a product line and finding ateliers in the Netherlands that could produce her creations. And so the lines Halsduk Silk, Halsduk Handwoven and Halsduk Knitted were created and later the Halsduk Fåglar Kimo was added, which is this wonderful kimono and of an admirable quality. Each Halsduk product reflects her love for Scandinavia, the nature, Dutch craftsmanship, and folk clothing which stole her heart because of the various details that make up each embroidery.
At the opening of the shop (House of Artisans Amsterdam) I remember being very impressed with the quality of the material, the unique colors and details that each of the scarves had. Although there were a lot of people, I quickly found a way to talk to Esmee and learn a bit more about her creations and inspirations. Her passionately way of speaking about her products, was incredibly and super inspiring.
I love scarves, but I’ve never seen someone speak of them with such love. But in addition to the scarves, what also caught my attention, was the kimono she was wearing. I realized that it was from same fabric and it had the same pattern as the scarves. I asked curiously if it was part of the collection. At the time it was not, Halsduk Fåglar Kimo was officially launched this year.
So, as you can already imagine, I was overwhelmed and super happy when Esmee invited me to do this work. As a blogger, it is an honor to represent such a unique brand. All Halsduk by Esmee are produced in such unique way, where sustainability, quality and exclusivity are paramount. And this kimono is no exception. Like all Halsduk products, this kimono is a reflection of her passions and, it stands out because of the Swedish atmosphere.
The colors and patterns of the kimono were designed by Esmee. It was made with a lots of love by a woman for other women. The Halsduk Fåglar Kimo is a light piece of cloth, pure silk and extremely comfortable. Furthermore, it is also a super fashionable piece with the ability to make you dazzling in a fraction of a second. Fool who thinks elegance and comfort do not go hand in hand, (lol).
The Halsduk Fåglar Kimo is also a very versatile piece clothing. Combined with jeans, boots and other more casual clothing you can create casual-chic looks that can be worn in less formal occasions. But at the same time it can also be worn just as dress, or combined with more exquisite clothing, automatically creating high fashion outfits appropriated for occasions where formality and exclusivity are demanded.
All Halsduk by Esmee products are directly available on her website( https://www.emhstyling.nl/) and at House of Artisans, Roelof Hartstraat 5 in Amsterdam). You can also buy directly from her Instagram (click here).
I hope you have enjoyed it and do not forget to dream and always fight for the fulfillment of your dreams.
