All about DHL Africa eShop
If you live in Africa, you know that consumers are not always able to buy products from international stores or brands. These stores / brands usually do not offer the possibility of shipping to African countries and the lack of electronic payment systems in most of these countries, makes the process even more difficult. As a consequence, when third parties manage to bring these same products to these countries, consumers are forced to pay very high prices for those products. Since the nature of man is to seek solutions for the obstacles he faces, in partnership with MallforAfrica, DHL launched an e-commerce application called DHL Africa eShop. Click here to install.
The DHL Africa eShop is an app that allows global stores / brands to sell their products to African consumers. In another words, african consumers can now buy products directly from online stores accross the world and receive their purchases at home without paying exorbitant amounts for the shippment and the merchandise. In this case, the app takes advantage of the existing delivery structure on the continent, allowing goods to be delivered at the door of the consumers through DHL Express. Payment methods include local fintech options.
The app already contains more than 200 online stores in the United States of America and England, such as Amazon, ASOS, Apple, etc. To me it is wonderful development, because now Africans have access to world brands without necessity to lieve their home countries.
DHL Africa eShop solves the challenges that consumer goods companies face when entering the African market. Obviously, in order for its effect to be more advantageous for the continent, it is also necessary for the app to allow African companies to sell their products directly from Africa to the world. But I believe that this will be the next step for the app.
DHL Africa eShop currently operates in 34 African countries including Angola, Nigeria, Kenya, Mauritius, Ghana, Senegal, Rwanda, Malawi, Botswana, Sierra Leone etc … but its objective is to introduce the app to the 54 countries of the continent in the coming years.
The application is free. For Apple devices, the app can be downloaded via the applestore and android devices in the playstore. Click here to install.
